Environmental education
The protected natural areas are open-air laboratories that aim to teach how to respect nature and raise awareness of the environmental issues and to get the local communities involved in the preservation projects. Environmental education is also a tool to change lifestyles, because it increases the awareness of children and young people and directly influences the families involved.
The nature reserves entrusted to Legambiente offer to schools (and not only) various educational activities aimed to discover and get to know the protected areas, thus increasing the awareness on environmental topics (nature conservation, land use, alternative energy, etc.). In the reserves it is possible to take part in guided tours, educational workshops, awareness campaigns (the Feast of the Tree, Clean up the World, One Hundred Roads to Play, Beaches and clean waters, etc.), as well as to participate in particular environmental training projects.
